What an honor it is to be your principal.

I can truly say, I love my job and I come to work each day with excitement about what each day will bring. Growing up, my teachers had a great impact on my life. Teachers inspire…offer words of hope, encouragement and even correction when needed. I believe in the importance of education. We learn to be productive citizens because of the values instilled by those who educate us. Our parents are our first teachers.
There is a quote with a picture of a small boy looking across the water that sits on the shelf in my office.  It states, “We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.”  This quote is so true. It takes us all working together to build our youth.
A little background about me.  I grew up in the Oak Hill community and still live there today.  I am married, have two children and a golden retriever named Daisy. My children attend school at Freedom High School and Table Rock Middle School.  I enjoy camping and traveling places with my family.  I began working with Burke County Public Schools in 1996 as a teacher assistant. After earning my teaching degree, I taught first and third grade at Chesterfield before spending time as an assistant principal at Table Rock and Walter Johnson Middle Schools.
I am committed to education and believe we all continue to learn and grow in knowledge regardless of our age.
It is my hope to leave a positive, lasting impression on students, parents and teachers. I remind our students to do the best you can, believe in yourself, to be all you can be, if you work hard it will pay off and treat others the way you want to be treated.

Thank you for allowing me to serve in this community.

Sincerely,

Shanda Epley, Principal
